About

One developer,
ten years of other people's messes

I'm Dale Pierce. I build the software that replaces the spreadsheet, and connects the systems that were never designed to meet.

The short version

Still one person, deliberately

Pierce Solutions has been going since 2014. It was one person then and it is one person now — that is a choice, not a stage I am hoping to grow out of. It means I take fewer jobs than an agency would, and it means the person who scoped your project is the person who writes it.

The work has been consistent in shape if not in industry: egg producers grading and dispatching stock, supply chain operators evidencing ethical sourcing, freight yards tracking what is actually on the road, welding shops keeping certificates audit-ready, and tradespeople who just needed a site that works. Have a look at the software projects and the website portfolio — that is the real record.

The stack is .NET, Blazor and Azure, chosen because it is boring, well-documented and still supported in five years. I would rather hand over something a stranger can maintain than something clever only I understand.

How I work

Six things you can hold me to

A straight answer on scope

If the job does not need custom software, I will say so — including when the honest answer is a cheaper off-the-shelf tool and half a day configuring it.

Fixed scope before we start

You get the scope, the price and the sequence in writing before any code exists. If something changes mid-build, it gets re-quoted rather than absorbed and argued about later.

Boring technology on purpose

.NET, SQL Server and Azure. Not because they are exciting, but because they will still be maintainable long after I have handed the project over.

Your code is yours

Source, credentials and documentation are handed over at the end. No hostage arrangements, and nothing that requires you to keep paying me to stay in business.

I learn how you actually work

Before anything is built I want to see the current process — the spreadsheet, the whiteboard, the workaround everyone pretends is temporary. That is where the real requirements live.

I am still here after launch

Go-live is the middle of the job, not the end. Patching, monitoring and the awkward edge cases nobody predicted are part of the arrangement.

The process

What actually happens

It starts with watching the current process. Not a requirements workshop — the actual spreadsheet, the actual whiteboard, the step someone does manually every Tuesday because the system cannot handle it. Most of the useful detail is in that step, and it never appears in a brief.

Then you get a written scope with a price and a sequence. Build happens in short iterations so you see it working early and can say "that is not how we do it" while changing course is still cheap. That sentence is the most valuable thing you can tell me, and it gets more expensive to act on every week it goes unsaid.

After go-live I am still on the hook: patching, monitoring, and the edge cases that only surface once real staff use it in a real shed. See the full service offering or get in touch.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Who founded Pierce Solutions?

Pierce Solutions was founded by Dale Pierce, an experienced .NET developer and IT consultant with over a decade of experience delivering custom software and technology solutions for Australian businesses.

How long has Pierce Solutions been operating?

Pierce Solutions has been operating since 2014, providing custom software development, web applications, system integration, and IT consulting services to businesses across Australia for over 10 years.

What size businesses does Pierce Solutions work with?

Everything from sole traders to established operations running multiple sites. The common thread is not size, it is that something has outgrown the tools it started on. I scope to fit the scale and the budget, and I will tell you when a project is too big to be worth starting.

What makes Pierce Solutions different from other IT consultancies?

You deal with one person, and that person writes the code. There is no account manager, no handover to a delivery team you have never met, and no junior learning on your budget. I scope it, build it, deploy it and support it, and you always know who to call.
